“My passion for the artistry of dance began at a very young age.
This passion grew into a dream to establish my own dance school,
and to share this passion with my students. My focus on dance is to
not only have fun but improve and develop strength, flexibility, stamina
and most of all confidence. I endeavour to teach every student correct
techniques in a positive, fun and friendly environment.”
Miss Shannon, with over 20 years’ teaching experience, began her own personal dance journey at the very young age of two. Her talent was evident and at the age of eight, she was selected as swing for The Australian Ballet, Graham Murphy production
of The Nutcracker.
At ten years of age, Shannon extended her dance training at the Halloran School of Dance, and studied various dance styles including ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, national character and Irish dancing. Through these early years, she competed and placed with successful results in numerous solo and group eisteddfods.
Shannon also achieved high marks in her RAD Ballet grades.
Shannon was accepted to study at the Newtown High School of Performing Arts. During her high school years, she was selected in the New South Wales Dance Company and performed in numerous productions including School Spectacular
and a special performance for Princess Diana. She was also selected to dance in the 2000 Sydney Olympics, opening ceremony.
After completing HSC, Shannon extended her dance skills and abilities by studying full time at the Brent Street performing arts centre, graduating with a Certificate IV in Performing Arts.
Throughout her dance career, Shannon gained great knowledge in many aspects of dance and performance. Some performances to note include features in the Wiggles DVDs including Wiggly Wiggly Christmas, Yummy Yummy and The Wiggles Movie.
Shannon has also made appearances on television shows including The Midday Show, The Kerry-Anne Show, The Morning Show and the Footy Show and featured in the NRL’s TVC campaign.
She has performed in music video clips for the Screaming Jets and Real Blondes. During her career, Shannon was a backup dancer for the touring RSL Club Show The Super Girls Show where she performed throughout metropolitan Sydney.
She also was asked to perform a special ballet routine for the Alannah Hill’s fashion show as part of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Shannon was selected as a cheerleader for NRL teams including the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, West Tigers, St. George Illawarra Dragons and the Cronulla Sharks as well as the Sydney Kings Basketball team. Shannon was also given the opportunity to dance overseas in China.
For 20 years, Shannon has taught RAD ballet, jazz, hip hop, musical theatre, contemporary and lyrical at various dance schools and public schools in the Sutherland Shire. Shannon has had many years experience choreographing concert and eisteddfod routines and has entered students into RAD ballet exams with resulting high merits and distinctions.
